Kele

Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke has debuted his new single Tenderoni, from his forthcoming album The Boxer, on Zane Lowes show the other day. It’s not bad. Not sure if I like it though. A bit um… like bad MSTRKRFT? Keen to hear something else from this album. Will play on the show as soon as I have something. Anyway… enjoy!

The soundcloud file was taken away so it’s trusty youtube for now.

Kissy Sell Out

So I know I promised a Kissy Sell Out interview on Friday and then didn’t produce but I can explain. Well… actually I can’t really. But this week I promise I’ll air the Kissy interview,as well as an interview I did with Burns and… an interview I’m doing this week with Delphic as well. How fucking sick is that? Sometimes I amaze even myself.

If you’re not too familiar with Kissy check out his blog at http://kissysellout.com/blog/

And check out this little mix of his. Made me feel funny in my pants.

As for Burns, check out his Myspace page.

He’s got a new EP out now called So Many Nights. You can pick it up on Beatport.

And finally Delphic… these guys are choice eh bro. Albums solid with heaps of cool tracks which should translate to sweet gig. They’re playing this Friday at The Prince. Details ere!

That’s right! The Plump mothafuckin DJs interview is airing on this Fridays show. These guys are legends in the breakbeat scene and since breaks is dying a horrible, drawn out and very public death they’ve been branching out into other stuff as well. These guys are quality and hitting our shores next year for Good Vibes.

Check out the podcast on Itunes, it’s bonza!

GLOVES

So I know I said I’d put GLOVES mix up the other day and I didn’t but I’ve finally got my shit together and here it is in all it’s magnificent glory. I should go on to talk it up a bit more but I’m trying to recover from midday beers and I’m drinking a tasty soy latte and to be honest I can’t be fucked. So enjoy.

Shockone

Yeah boi! Special treat time. Below you can find the interview I did with Shockone last week PLUS his most awesome face melting 30 minute set he did for PBS Live Music Week 2009.

You better not be asking who Shockone is. He’s only Australia’s biggest drum’n'bass producer/DJ at the moment. I’ve been super keen to interview Shockone for ages as I’ve been following his career pretty closely. I first saw him when I lived in Perth and was heavily into dnb. His productions are fantastic and if you’re into Matrix and Futurebound, High Contrast, Subfocus, Brookes Brothers, Culture Shock, etc you’ll love him. He’s starting to smash it on the world stage and it won’t be long before he’s considered one of the biug playaz of dnb.

Check out the Shockone myspace

Anyway enjoy this quality mix and not-so-quality bit of music jourmalism.

GLOVES

Who knew GLOVES could keep your ears warm? Well they can. He can. Because he’s dope.

If you haven’t heard of GLOVES then slap yourself because you’re clearly not paying attention. GLOVES is the solo project of Yama Indra. Yama used to be part of indie-dance band Damn Arms until they went their seperate ways. Now he makes disco bombs and was recently signed up to Bang Gang. He came in for a chat for the Live Music Week show which aired on Friday 11th December. Listen to the interview below. We talked about stuff. It was cool. I’ll put the set up tomorrow (left it at home).

Boris the Blade

The third episode of Shake’n'Bake went off without a hitch on Friday night. No interviews this week. Working on getting Surkin in next week ahead of Stereosonic, will just depend on whether he has time as they run a pretty tight schedule. Got my acts locked in for PBS Live Music Week 2009. Locked in is Melbourne indie-electro genius GLOVES and Perth-based Shockone spinning exclusive 30-minute sets as well as an interview with both lads. The Live Music Week show will be at 10pm (special 4-hour show) and will also feature a look back at the biggest and baddest breaks, electro, indie-dance and dnb tracks of 2009. Gonna be sweet!

Check out playlists from Fridays show here

Here’s my favourite track from the show. It’s the latest release from Erol Alkan’s label Phantasy Sounds. Erol played it in his recent Parklife sets. It’s freaky deeky.

What to make of the Good Vibes lineup? Hmmmm… I’m going to go with a little uninspired. There seems to be a pretty standard formula to the Good Vibes lineup these days. A big headline act thats a bit on the cheap because they haven’t realeased anything lately, three chart-topping acts, a couple of has-beens, a hyped blog artist or two, a couple of hip hop heavy hitters, a breakbeat act, a drum’n'bass act and finally a contingent of lesser known Australian acts. At least it’s not another Summadayze. Here’s the lineup:

The Killers
Basement Jaxx
Armand Van Helden
Gossip
Busta Rhymes
Friendly Fires
Salt-N-Pepa
Z-Trip
Kid Cudi
Naughty By Nature
Plump DJs
Gym Class Heroes
Chase & Status
Dave Seaman
DJ Craze
Chuckie
Art vs Science
Bass Kleph
Sam Obernik
KillaQueenz

Saying that, it’s not all bad. Armand Van Helden will be awesome for those that missed him at Winter Sound System, Friendly Fires are fun, Plumps always bring the party and Basement Jaxx live show has so much friggin colour it will cause seizures. But for me the the pick of the acts is Chase and Status. Part dnb, part dubstep, completely awesome. Having torn apart the biggest clubs and festivals in Europe for years and having worked with everyone from Kano to Snoop Dogg these guys promise to deliver a set the screwfaces will love.
